June 2020

Mr. Stoney

Dear Pioneer Families,

We are in June with less than two weeks left of the 2020-21 School year. It has been a long past two months with us entering into remote learning so quickly and suddenly back in April. There have been many strengths and barriers that we have come to face together when it comes to teaching and learning online.

As we finish the year, we have one foot at the ending of this year and the planning and preparing for next year. We still wait for clear guidance on what and how to plan for this upcoming Fall. We begin to send out interest surveys to staff and community members that wish to serve on our planning committees with the knowledge that we must plan for a variety of situations including a face-to-face setting addressing health and safety with social distancing, a blended model with students at school part-time and learning online part-time, as well as a possible fully remote online learning system again. The areas we will be focusing and planning on starting this month with the goal of a hopefully completed and communicable plan in late August include:

  • Instruction
  • Health and safety
  • Business and operations
  • Trauma-informed practices
  • Communication
  • Professional Development
Mr. Gummel will be coming out with communication very shortly, addressing the process, protocols, and systems for developing these committees as well as planning steps. Please be on the watch out for this information and take the time to fill out the survey if you have any interest in serving and providing feedback on any of these targeted starting committees.

You have been flexible and understanding this entire time, even with al the challenges and barriers that have been in place. We hope that we can plan for the worst-case scenario but indeed be able to participate in the best-case scenario for what school will look like this Fall.

Thank you for all you do,

Go Eagles!
