Principal's Message

Josh Stoney

Hello Pioneer Eagle team and families,

I want to take the time to say welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. As August comes and goes, I hope that all of you have been able to take the time to engage with family and friends and rejuvenate for the new school year. This year will be a great year full of positive and powerful opportunities and experiences as we grow and learn together.  As last year was my first year, it was a positive and learning experience helping create systems and opportunities for your child. I will strive and continue to provide these opportunities for all of our kids. The vision of the Pioneer School District is to provide high levels of learning for all…every child, every day.

What does this mean, and why is it important? (the why)

Our team will work collaboratively to ensure that we are planning, implementing, and analyzing all our decisions to provide the best educational experiences. We will work to identify and remove barriers for all students for similar opportunities. We want every child that enters our doors to have every opportunity to reach their dreams and goals.

How will we do this? (the how)

We will work with each other, staff, and students to reflect upon and implement programs for all students aligned with a framework of instruction, systems, leadership, and culture. We will ensure that our programs and opportunities fit these areas and are available to every child while continually analyzing and improving them based on data and feedback.

What will this look like? (the what)

This year we will be focused on many initiatives around instruction, systems, leadership, and culture. Some of this significant focus this year will include, but not limited to:

  • Implementing school-wide AVID (advancement via individual determination) focused on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading.

  • Building a safe and positive culture and climate with PBIS (positive behavior incentives and systems) as well as restorative practices.

  • Refining our school-wide RTI (response to intervention) program focused on providing necessary instruction to close any knowledge gaps in the areas of English language arts and mathematics.

Each of our staff members is dedicated to providing the best opportunities and experience for
your child’s success as possible and cannot wait to work with you and your child this year. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, ideas, or feedback that can be used to help us best serve you and your child.
